Here at Anti Slip Towers we are quite partial to a bit of the streets and we think that Original Pirate Material is one of the stand out albums from the naughties.
We think this is pretty special too.
Once again sorry for the lack of posts of late but work gets in the way of fun sometimes

The Law Regarding Slippery Floors

ha ha see what I did there?
Sorry serious subject is indeed serious:-
Under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 Employers have to ensure their employees and anyone else who could be affected by their work (such as visitors, members of the public, patients etc.), are kept safe from harm and that their health is not affected.
This means slip and trips risks must be controlled to ensure people do not slip, trip and fall.
Employees must use any safety equipment provided and must not cause danger to themselves or others.
Manufacturers and suppliers have a duty to ensure that their products are safe.
They must also provide information about appropriate use.
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 build on the requirements of the Act and include duties on employers to assess risks (including slip and trip risks) and where necessary take action to safeguard health and safety.
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 require floors to be suitable for the workplace and work activity, kept in good condition and kept free from obstructions.
Also, people must be able to move around safely.
Safe Grip
Safe Grip Anti Slip Treatment is designed to increase the coefficient of friction on a variety of flooring materials, for example tiles or Terrazzo, bath tubs and shower trays by creating micro pores in the surface which create a vacuum effect when walked on in a wet condition and thereby considerably improving the traction and seriously reducing the risk of slipping.
Safe Grip Anti Slip Treatment will create micro pores in natural materials and manufactured products that are a fusion of materials bound with cement or clay including concrete, quarry tiles, ceramic, marble, terrazzo, granite, slate, stone, porcelain and enamel finished bath tubs and shower trays.
There is no significant change in the appearance of many types of surfaces treated with Safe Grip and it is not a coating that can wear down or peel off. It is a treatment process that reacts with the material itself to produce an invisible and lasting effect.
A Safe Grip treated surface is a safer surface to walk on when wet
Wet floor surfaces are a serious risk to health and safety, injuries caused through slips and falls are very common when such conditions exist.
Safe Grip Anti Slip Treatment is both easy and safe to apply and typically 60 to 100m² per hour can be achieved by an individual worker, bath tubs and shower trays usually take no more than 10 minutes.
Safe Grip Anti Slip Treatment should be applied following the removal of sealers and grease to enhance the effective ness of the treatment. The surface to receive the treatment must be thoroughly clean and dry.
We believe Safe Grip Anti Slip Treatment is one of the most user and environmentally friendly products of its type on the market.
Once treated with Safe Grip Anti Slip Treatment areas such as bath tubs and shower trays and lightly trafficked areas will have an effective slip resistance for at least 3 years while areas subjected to heavy or regular high usage should have an effective life of 2 years.
Slips and Trips
HSE statistics regularly show that around 1 in 3 ‘non-fatal major injuries’ (such as broken bones), and over 1 in 5 ‘over-3-day injuries’ (such as strains and sprains) in workplaces throughout Great Britain involve slips and trips. This equates to one serious slip accident every three minutes, a total of over 35,000 per year.

Grip Cote
- Grip Cote comprises of a specially formulated two pack clear matt polyurethane coating system, light stabilised to offer good resistance to yellowing and a specially graded slip resistant aggregate. Grip Cote can be used both internally and externally on a wide variety of surfaces, where there is the presence of an effective vapour proof membrane, radically improving the slip resistance, especially when wet. The system offers good chemical and ultra violet light resistance and is easy to clean. .
- Acrylic bath tubs and shower trays
- Epoxy and polyurethane floor finishes
- Concrete
- Painted Concrete Floors
- Terrazzo
- Marble
- Stone
- Quarry Tiles
- Vinyl Floors
- And lots more surfaces
Remember Treatments and coatings can increase surface co-efficient of friction to meet and exceed HSE guidelines.
The frequency of cleaning can optimise the anti-slip properties of your floors Grip Cote is designed as a single coat application but some porous surfaces may require an initial coat to act as a sealer/primer. This initial coat, when required, is applied without the inclusion of the aggregate and should be sealed within 24 hours. Grip Cote is only available to professional applicators. - Through our network of applicator we can provide a Nation Wide Service
Slip and Trips Legal Responsiblity?
If you are a property owner and a person has an accident on your land, you may find yourself legally responsible for his or her injuries.

It is not just the amount of claims that is on the rise but the amounts claimed. Recently a health worker was awarded £235,000 for a back injury resulting from a slip.
When legal fees, management time etc are added to this cost the effects can be extremely dramatic on the viability of a business.
UK claims against local authorities rose by 8 times between 1998 & 2003. This is partly as Society is becoming increasingly litigious and partly due to the increase in no win no fee offers, family legal cover protection policies and a rise in awareness through TV & media advertising.
80% of accidents in the UK are not claimed against, though with insurance Companies increasingly offering cheap insurance to cover clients with up to £50,000 in Legal Aid to pursue claims such as “you slip and injure yourself on a slippery shop entrance”, claims are likely to be pursued more and more vigorously. In the last few years there has been a steady increase in claims made here in the UK. You can be sure that this increase will follow the trend of the rest of the world and continue to rise rapidly in the future.
Law firms are also increasingly pursuing Personal Injury claims Worldwide!

Tour Baby
I was going to post a video of the sprint finish of stage 11 of the Tour de France but it looks like ASO have had them removed for copyright violation ( or is it because they clearly show Renshaw was only trying to hold his line and was lent on by Dean who was right of his line and trying to push Renshaw and Cav in to the barriers )
![]()
Anyway due to some pushing with his head, or headbutting as it could be seen, Renshaw has been kicked of Le Tour. It will be interesting to see if Cav can still mix it without him, I think he will as he is by far the fasted man once he has a clear line to the finish. Although overshadowed by the above incident it was a record win for Cav who has now won 13 Tour Stages in 4 years
